This article shows you how to install the default anonymous ftp daemon (ftpd).

I had just installed 2.2.8 on a machine which would server as an FTP server for an upcoming install-a-thon [that is an event experienced FreeBSD users help novices install FreeBSD on their machines].  I first had trouble mounting the CD-ROM.  But then I wanted to be able to access the contents of that CD-ROM via anonymous ftp from other machines.

/stand/sysinstall
Configure
Networking
Anon Ftp

I just accepted all of the default settings.

For the welcome message, I used this:

Welcome to the NZFUG FreeBSD Install-A-Thon ftp server.

And that was it.  You are now running anonymous ftp.  It's so easy!
